Edit: Wow! There is a lot of great old music in this thread.

Reminds me of the record stores down there, go in, tell the guy what you like and he'll just whip out a stack of records and start playing a few snippets... if you tell him you like it, it goes in your pile.

Yeah, some of us like a little more old school.

Cheers.

English Beat is paying in Santa Cruz march 8-9. old ska will never die. My buddies band toured with them over 20 years ago

I've been playing the Specials a lot at work when I'm not playing Op Ivy, gets me in a tropical frame of mind when it's -10F out

Thought Id share this video I took from a show in Providence a few weeks ago.

I think you posted them before. Now I have that "Sensi Boy" song stuck in my head. Not my style too much, but it's well done and catchy.

As others have already posted (and I probably have too), was listening to Justin Hinds Save a Bread, and linked a youtube video elsewhere on HBT, and youtube put this mix on next. Good stuff.

I also love the Pete Tosh extended version of Johnny B. Goode...

I don't listen to much ska or rock steady but I dig reggae. This is one of the albums I still listen to frequently. I first stumbled upon it back in the early 90's when I was in the Navy.

I used to listen to ska all the time but lately I've been into indy folk style music. Should break out my albums and start listening again.

But here are some of my favorites:
The Specials
Skatalites (saw them in Santa Barbara, W/loyd Brevett)
Maddness
Isaac Green and the Skalars
Lets go Bowling
Hepcat
English beat
Pietasters
Toasters
New York Jazz and Ska ensemble

Kinda Upbeat

Listening to that right now while I make something we aren't allowed to talk about on this forum ;)

FYI, Amoeba Music has a bunch of the Trojan box sets (or at least various components of them) on vinyl right now, in addition to a bunch of other good stuff as usual. I may have to do some ordering come Friday pay day.
