I want to get my order ready for my next beer. This will be my second brew, I just did my first yesterday.

Anyway, I want to do a pumpkin beer. I looked through the database, but I'm still a little new at this so, researching is starting to burn my eyes up. I hope some people can help make some recommendations.

I love sweet and spicy pumpkin beers. Thick, complex and rich, I love them when they taste like pumpkin pie. Again, for this one I'm looking for something on the sweet side.

Thoughts or recommendation for an extract recipe? Something that shouldn't be too hard for a newbie.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

This is the first beer I ever brewed and we continue to brew it every year. It is pumpkin pie in a glass. I already brewed mine two weeks ago. Brew it now and it will be tasting great around halloween!

Notes
Mix pumpkin puree with 2 tbs of honey. Spread out on non stick foil line baking sheet and bake for approx 40mins at 350F or until mixture has browned and most of the moisture is cooked off. Put into mesh bag and add at beginning of 60min boil.

Steep specialty grains and raise temp to 152F and hold for 20 mins. Raise to 170F and remove grains.

Slice vanilla beans, scrape insides, and put all contents and pods with pumpkin spice in just enough neutral spirits to cover. Let sit for one week before adding to secondary.

Most commonly, pumpkin beers are just an amber base beer with pumpkin spice. The actual pumpkin is pretty optional.

Yep. Pumpkin doesn't have much of a flavor at all. It's the spices that makes a pumpkin pie into the holiday-time awesomeness that it is.

Brewers Best Pumpkin Spice Porter was my first brew ever and absolutely delicious!!

I just got a NB kit for smashing pumpkin ale that gets really high reviews. But I am new and really know nothing. < read that as a newbie that was looking for the same.
