i was reading that when you use hop pellets, that you should use 10 - 15 percent less than when using leaf hops, now my question is, when i look at a recipe online, how do i know if the person who posted the recipe used leaf, pellets, or plugs?

am i thinking to far into this, does it really make that big of a deal?

I think that most people are using pellets and therefore default to that when posting a recipe.
you can also plug your recipe into software and make sure that your ibu's are where you want them.

Let's look at it this way: If your recipe is 50 IBUs and they used pellets, then using whole hops would give you about 45 IBUs. Reversing it, 55. You cannot taste the difference.
