Hello All,

I'm in the process of setting up and automated gas brew system using a BCS 462, automated valves, etc.

I intend to use solenoid valves (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B018WRJYUO/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20) in conjunction with Honeywell hot surface ignitors to automate operation of the two gas burners.

Let me describe my problem. To get the propane tank discharge pressure correct, I open the solenoid valve going to a single burner, adjust pressure using my 0-30 psi regulator (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007PS0938/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20) until I hear gas flow, manually light the gas, and then adjust the pressure until I get the desired flame height. I then close the solenoid valve. On reopening of the solenoid valve there is no gas flow.

Has anyone experienced this before? I'm wondering if this is related to the excess flow protection device within the acme nut. Would replacing the acme nut with a POL fitting (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C5STTXE/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20) that doesn't have the excess flow functionality work? Is there something going on with the regulator? Any other suggestions?

Thank you in advance!

you need to have a valve at burner before senonoid to adjust flame and not at regulator the safety on the reg.is shutting down gas

I tested a similar setup and have the info on a different thread. Another thing to check is that some sol valves need a min pressure to open. If your regulator is set real low that may be an issue. I added a pressure gauge to ensure that the pressure is set consistently. Also be aware that those valves are not rated for flammable gasses. I grabbed some ascos off of ebay that were rated for propane/ng for that reason.
