This makes no sense i know.

My last 3 batches had the same damn thing going on.

Just finished brewing a Belgian IPA.

After Mashing/REcirculate/Sparging (fly) into my kettle i took a sample that i placed in my fridge to cool it off.

Took a reading (around 30C) if i remember.

1.060 ..Damn thats high but oh well (suposed to be around 1.042)

After the boil (60 mins) cool it down then transfer to carboy.

Take a sample from carboy (24C). 1.050 reading off a 1.055 estimate.

The hell...

Any advice ?

My only guess is that i did not stir the pre boil wort enough before taking a read ?

Hydrometer has been tested in plain water and is ok.

Based on your estimated OG and FG. I'd say your wort was stratified in the kettle. A 1.060 og would have a FG around 1.070.

I usually take my OG sample after a few minutes of the boil to avoid the problem.

Cheers
