Juiced about 25 pears to do a cider. Used champagne yeast and a lil peptic enzyme... The juice seems really thick... Anyone make pear def and think the same thing.

Love to find out how this works for ya. I have a pear tree and every august we have pear pie, pear tarts, pear ... I never thought of cider till my 8 year old boy said just yesterday ... can we make cider from those pears this year... now he had me thinking!

Slightly nervous due to the consistency, i added about 2 cups water while heating on the stove top. Added just 1/2 cup of light brown sugar. So we'll see how it turns out... Im going to allow 4 wks before racking to secondary depending how it looks...

Actually pear cider has it's own category, it is called "Perry" . I've never madeit but I have tasted some made at our local small winery. It was very tasty.
