This is my second attempt and partial grain brewing, the first is an APA in the secondary at this time.

This brew is my attempt at a Wee Heavy style.

I have made a mash tun out of a 28 qt. Coleman Extreme cooler and a simple 1/2" CPVC manifold running the perimeter of the base with aprox. 175 3/32" holes. I have a muslin bag around the manifold to keep the grains from plugging the holes and it flows very well.

After mashing out I had 3 gallons of wort with a SG of 1.042 is this good or did I leave behind some usable sugars?

I fell short of the estimated 1.092 original gravity for the recipe only getting 1.078. I was thinking this may be a result of not getting all I could from the mash.

I welcome any advice on mashing procedures taking into account the mash tun I built. And would like opinions on the recipe itself and any suggestions on grains or hops and quantities used.

Thanks,,,,,GW

Looks like you were stretching your enzymes a bit thin to me. Biscuit has some diastatic power, but usually needs help, so that's not much 2-row for all those specialty grains.

Thanks for the advice, I will increase my percentage of 2 row in the next batch.
