I will be brewing this tomorrow to serve at a local beer festival. It's pretty experimental, and mostly novelty for the name, but I am excited to see if it makes a good beer.

3 lbs Oat Malt
3 lbs 6 row
2.5 lbs flaked oats
1.5 lbs golden naked oats
.5 oz horizon @ 90 minutes
.5 oz horizon @ 5 minutes
US-05

O.G. 1.046
27 IBU
5 SRM

Anyone else ever brew anything with a high percentage of oats?

Does it come in quarts? Lol

Seriously, can you brew with these oats (also called Irish or pinhead oats)?

I could, but those are also raw oats, so I don't think they will contribute a different character than the flaked oats.

step brothers-.... nice.

i don't wanna be "that guy" but big storm brewery in fl has a seasonal "oats and hoe's"-... i was hoping your recipe was a clone but oh well.

good luck w/ the brew!

This turned out fantastic by the way. It was the hit of the beer festival. Surprisingly the mash was one of the easiest ever. I think it was due to the oat malt husks. I did have to tighten my mill up by ~2/3 to properly mill the oats though.
