I have a Oatmeal Stout kit i purchased a month or so ago, all grain. Just wondering what was everyone elses opinion on oatmeal stout. I am thinking about brewing it tonight.

That's a pretty small quantity of oats for an oatmeal stout, I usually have at least 10% of the grist. I also prefer my BU:GU around 0.5-0.6 so I'd probably up the hops to about 25-30 IBU.
 
Looks a ton like a recipe I threw together two weeks ago

10 lbs Pale
.5 lb Chocolate
.5 lb Special B
.5 lb roasted barley
.5 lb flaked oats
1oz Northern Brewer 60 minutes (28 IBU)

I wish I would have bumped the oats up to a full pound, but the taste test when I racked to secondary yesterday was great:tank:
 
Yeah, i put 2 lbs of oats in my last batch. Its still in secondary so i'm not sure of the results.
 
well its in the fermenter. this is the first time i ever figured my effeciency 81%. thats pretty good right?
 
Well Then. It will be a pound next time. Well actually i am going to see how this one turned out first.
