Here is my first homemade recipie, of a nut brown ale. I was trying to go for more of the Newcastle type nut brown.

Original Gravity: 1.054 SG
Final Gravity: 1.015 SG
ABV: 5.0 %
Bitterness: 16.5 IBU

6.00 lb Amber Dry Extract
1.00 lb Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L
0.33 lb Chocolate Malt

1.00 oz Fuggles [4.50%] (60 min)
0.50 oz Goldings, East Kent [5.00%] (60 min)
0.50 oz Goldings, East Kent [5.00%] (15 min)

1.00 tsp Irish Moss (Boil 15.0 min)

1 Pkgs British Ale (Wyeast Labs #1098)

What do you guys think? Will I be able to get the taste I'm looking for? Any suggestions you guys have please let me know, thanks.

Should be close. I'd move the 15 min. add to 30 min. Newcastle doesn't have much aroma.

That recipe should work nicely. I had the best Brown ale ever at a brew pub in Whistler,B.C. It sure was a lot better than Newcastle. I am making one in the next day or 2 but my IBU's will be just a bit higher at 25. I really like the Wyeast 1098 and you will be happy with that, just make sure to pitch enough.

I would lessen chocolate malt to 1-2 oz. The amount you have I think will add too much of a burnt taste.
