So I made my second starter tonight for a porter I'm going to brew up tomorrow. NOTE: this will be my first AG attempt. All of my previous batches have been extract. The recipe I will be doing is one I found here called Bee Cave Robust Porter. I used 2 cups of DME and 1.5L of water. Once the water started boiling I added the DME and continued to boil for 20 minutes.
The first time I did a starter I boiled some water and DME in my 2L Erlenmeyer flask but I kept having boil overs. I was constantly adjusting the temp on my range.
This time I put 3 drops of FermCap in the water/DME mix.
Is this OK to do?
