Hi Guys

Don't laugh - very new to homebrewing....

I have packets of C-Brite that state "no rinse". How can this be true? I would think you'd want to rinse anyway?

If you rinse, you run the risk of contaminating the item you just cleaned. Just make sure the product dissolves in the proper amount of water, put the item in for the proper amount of time, and take it out when you need to use it. These products are made so they do not affect the taste of the beer as long as they are used properly.

Welcome to the hobby!

No-rinse sanitizers are designed to be not harmful to the brew. By rinsing, you're adding back whatever microbial contaminants are in your water supply, i.e. Pediococcus, Lactobacillus, Zymomonas, Acetobacter, etc. Even if your water is treated with chlorine or chloramine, it's not sterile.
