I am formulating my first all grain recipe here it what I have so far for 5.5gal. :

Grain Bill:
9# Canadian 2-row
1# Victory
1# Light Carastan
1/2# Cara-pils

Hop Schedule

0.5 oz Chinook 12% Whole Leaf 60min
1 oz willamette 5.4% Whole Leaf 30min
0.5 oz williamette 5.4% Whole Leaf 5min

Wyeast 1056

I am going for an APAesque brew, what do you all think?

I have the following ingredients in stock to modifiy the above recipe:

55# canadian 2-row
5# Victory
5# Light Carastan
5# Carapils
2.5# Black
2.5# Roasted Barley
2.5# Chocolate

4 oz Chinook whole leaf 12%
8 oz Willamette whole leaf 5.4%
8 oz NZ Organic Halleurtau 8.6%

I'm just looking for your expirienced input. I am mainly concerned about my hop schedule.

Thanks
Travis

Sounds good. Did you input this into any kind of brewing software like Brewsmith?

You might consider splitting that 1.0 oz Willamette addition in two and doing half at 30 and half at 15.

Originally i input into brewsmith, but the trial ran up. I need to pony up and pay for the real version. I used brewsmith to make sure that the OG, IBU, and SRM were all within reason for the style.

Split the 1oz into two additons. is this for added hop complexity?

Also for future reference, I read somewhere that Chinook may impart harshness if too much is used. Is this a valid statement, and if so, what is too much.

Thanks
Travis
