I'm currently brewing an Outmeal Stout using HME. It is bubbling happily in the primary. I plan to rack to a Mr Beer keg and bottle from there. I would like to add a kick of coffee as an experiment.

I plan to make a strong brew, cool it off and add it to the Mr Beer keg along with my corn sugar solution. Is there any drawback by doing that? Should I add the coffee a week earlier, and why?

Thanks in advance.

I'm doing a HME as I'm just a newbie. I'm not using the Mr beer equipment to brew, only using the keg to rack and bottle because I find the spigot very useful when bottling and mixing priming solution.

I'm making Oatmeal stout. Want to experiment by adding coffee flavor.

Because I like beer and I like coffee.

maybe try some roasted barley? im new too but i know roasted barley tastes kinda like coffee. :)

hopefully someone will answer how much you should add it... if im right about the roasted barley.
