Just joined the site. My son in law and I had been talking about brewing our own, well he beat me to it. He started out with a Mr. Beer kit and made some (what I thought was) decent ale. I started googling and found this site, which led me to Midwest Brewery where I purchased my kit and cooked up my first batch of Big River Brown Ale on Wednesday night. Just checking it out a couple times a day now and watching bubbles in the airlock. I'm sure I'll have tons of questions, so I joined the site. Thanks in advance for the help.

Wlecome fellow Burgh" person. If you are going to continue (I knw you will) try South Hills Brewing Supply, they have 3 locations around the Pittsburgh area. They are also quite good in the service and support area.

Also give Three Rivers Underground Brewing a visit for local Brewers and information. http://www.trubrewers.com/

Good Luck and again, Welcome.

Salute! :mug:

If your in the north hills area here's the place to go. Steve (the skinny guy with glasses) knows his stuff, it's a great store. After you stop there go to the Hop House at the end of babcock for some good beer ;). When you click the link, you must click on the "proceed to link destination" to get there. (My first time seeing that)

Nice, thanks guys. I'm actually headed to SouthHills right now to pick up my next kit and start my second batch. They have a store in Monroeville which is pretty close to me.

Seconding the recommendation on the stores! I feel lucky to have so many great LHBS locations in the area.

I am also new to this site and from Pittsburgh. Last week I purchased all the beer making supplies I needed from the Monroeville South Hills Brewing Supply.

TRASH is the other local homebrew club. Good people in both.
There's another homebrew store in the new ken area, Ben's homebrew, but i haven't been there yet. I shop at South Hills monroeville most of the time.
Just around the corner from South Hills Monroeville store is D's, a great bar/restauarant/bottleshop.
