been too long since i've made an IPA, any thoughts on this? fairly common hop combo, but trying out some nelson in the mix for something a lil different.

5.5gal batch, 1.071 OG, 84 IBUs, 7 SRM

13.5lbs NW pale
0.75lbs white wheat
0.75lbs C20

3oz CTZ @15
1.5oz Amarillo @5
1.5oz Nelson Sauvin @5
1.5oz Simcoe @5
1.5oz Amarillo @dry hop
1.5oz Nelson Sauvin @dry hop
1.5oz Simcoe @dry hop

2 packs notty

mash @151F for 60mins, boil 60mins, ferment @64F for 3 weeks

What are the IBUs? My only thought would be a little lack of bitterness to balance the fairly high OG. Maybe try a small charge of a clean bittering hop like warrior or galena as FWH or 60. Other than that, should be a aroma bomb, in a good way.

I did a hop-bursted IPA and got enough bittering. I don't like the 100+ IBU IPAs anyway, but I'm guessing I came in around 40, which was about perfect. Nothing before 20 minutes for me, and 2months later it still has great aroma and flavor.

Amarillo, Nelson, Simcoe will be great! Don't know about the CTZ though. Are you looking for a little funk to complement the citrus bomb? Personally I would go all citrus bomb.

This looks interesting. I never did a hop burst ... Im gonna brew this I think but I'll probably sub in some cascade and or citra

I like it, although I find CTZ a little rough so 3 ounces of that might be a bit much.

even when used late you find it rough?

i thought about doing that, but i have a 100% brett IPA with galaxy & citra going already, so decided against it.
i'd like some dank mixed in.
