Recently bought this BIAB set up after doing plenty of research to find something that would be a good fit for my existing garage circuitry and batch sizes.
High Gravity, Dave Knott, was a big help in choosing this system. I moved from induction burner to a 10gal 240v
Blichmann G2 kettle w/factory punched whirlpool port, and the Brew Commander.
Dave had said using the Brew Bag with the Boil Coil would not scorch the bag or the grains and he was right! I have used this bag before and it has worked nicely with my pulley in the garage
I thought I might need to add a type of through the lid RIMS, but that proved unnecessary because running the Brew Commander at 90% power during mash with the pump on whirlpooling gave me great heat dispersion throughout the kettle. I did stir several times to check and when I did the temp would drop about 8/10's of a degree and then recover set point 152F within a minute. Very happy with that.
Since full volume BIAB tends to be a fairly thin mash, the whirlpool kept the grains moving nicely in the bag which was great. This is a good fit for my brewing and the Brew Commander pretty much ran the show, so I could go weigh hops, sanitize the brew bucket, get lunch, etc.
I know eBIAB is not for everybody, but it's minimal footprint in my crowded garage allows me to brew.
