My gf got me these 3L barrels American white oak with medium char. For Xmas. Super excited does anyone have these and an tips?

Tip: The first beers you do in these will be EXTRA oaky, so make sure the first beer you do in these are higher in alcohol and are aged a longer period. That is unless you really like the oak flavor, otherwise you will get it within two weeks. Personally, I would make either an barley wine, or a baltic porter, and let it sit in there for 6+ months. Have fun with those, they will be adding depth to your beers for years to come! If you find them bland after a while, put together a batch of red wine, throw in there, condition for a while, and re-season those barrels.
