Hi, as soon as me and the old man are done building my FC, I'm thinking I should baptize it with one of two beers I am working on
First is a slightly strong Brittish Porter and the second a bitter-ish, I'm gonna use the metric scale since I have never really had the time or lust to learn freedom units, bear with me.
1. Porter batch size 8Liter
Malts:
1.85kg(81%) Maris Otter
230g(10%) Crystal 400
140g(6%) Low colour chocolate malt
70g(3%) Black malt
Hops:
7.5g Challenger 7.6%
5g Bramling Cross 7%
Mash at 67C for 75 minutes, sparge and then boil for 90 min, both hop additions will boil for 60 min
Will ferment with Mangrove Jacks Empire ale for as long as needed at 20C
Est OG 1066 FG 1017 29.9 IBU, ABV around 6.4%
2. Bitter-ish 8L
Malts:
1.19kg(70%) Maris Otter
340g(20%) Munich 1
120g(7%) Crystal 150
50g(3%) Carabohemian
Hops:
9g Challenger 7.6% 60 min
3g Bramling Cross 7% 20 min
3g Whitbread Golding 6% 20 min
16g Bramling Cross 7% 0 min
8 Whitbread Golding 6% 0 min
Mash at 67C for 60 min, sparge and boil for 60 min, ferment with safale S-04 at 18C
EST OG 1050 FG 1013 ABV 4.9% IBU 32
How do they look? anything i should add or change? With the bitter i was inspired by Ruddles country ale and wanted a similiar toffee feel paired with spicy cherry like notes from the hops, and with the Porter I just look for a big, roasty but still smooth brew.
