So, here's my situation.

I was planning to enter one of my beers in the NHC competition - I've already paid the $14 entry fee, but I haven't shipped the beer yet. My plan was to send the most recent batch of my Porter. I entered a similar beer a few years ago and it did well.

Here's the problem, I pick up a slight metallic flavor in the finish. It's still a good beer, but if there realy is something there I won't win anything - and I've heard feedback from NHC is pretty sparse anyway. So my options: spend $15 in shipping and see what happens, or save the cost in shipping in a beer that I'm not very confident in.

I really need to decide today or shipping rates will go up.

I say send it in. You've already paid the entrance fee and you never know what the judges will say, they may not even perceive the metallic flavor you are detecting.
