Brewing buddy decided to brew a Hazy IPA. His recipe is pretty straight forward. However, it calls for the first dry hop (2 oz) at a gravity of 1.020. Pretty easy. Says to dry hop for 6 days. Then after the 6 days do another dry hop (3 oz) for 4 days. Pretty straight forward. But my question is why 2 different hop additions? What is being imparted during each addition? Why not just all at once for 6-10 days? Thanks for the knowledge.

The only other thing I can think of is that one is supposed to be the biotransformation dry hop. However, the same site linked above has this that kind of shows biotransformation isn't all that noticeable either.

Thank you for the information. Really makes my decision for me. My buddy is doing 2 additions so we will be able to compare.
