Hello everyone,

Because of my geographically isolated area in North Alberta it's very expensive to get grain of any kind up here. So a few months ago I made the trip down to a major city and loaded up on two fifty five lb bags of grain. One simple 2 row and Pale ale. Could anyone give me a few techniques to get a strong malty flavour from these grains?

you could try toasting them. Maybe make a lighter roast and a darker roast.

Also try mashing at a higher temperature. It will make a sweeter beer due to the more unfermentable sugars that are created by mashing at a higher temp. It might produce a maltier beer but you will have to play around with hop additions to balance it right.
