We are making our first melomel. I want to know if I am supposed to squeeze the liquid out of the fruit when I am racking the mead?

Thanks
Lou

Depends on what kind of fruit, if you sqeeze some of them to much you are just going to get a LOT of sediment, something like strawberry and peach should be drained vs squeezed, others like elderberries and raspberries can be squeezed a bit more firmly but if you go gorilla you are going to get a lot of sediment so just make a bit extra at the start. Also, some fruit it's easy with, and some it's a PITA that's not worth doing just to get a little extra liquid!
