Just bought a copy of Beer captured. When it talks of adding hops to a specific HBU, and the hops you buy have a range of alpha acids do you just take the mid point of the range?

Just bought a copy of Beer captured. When it talks of adding hops to a specific HBU, and the hops you buy have a range of alpha acids do you just take the mid point of the range?

Use a recipe calculator such as Brewer's Friend | Homebrew Beer Recipes, Calculators & Forum plug in the info about the hops you want to use and it will give you the expected IBUs.

Most hops have a specific AA% on the package it will vary slightly from batch to batch. But yes if it did list a range I would select the middle point. Or find one with a specific AA% listed.
