I measured my mash PH for the first time and it was 5.8. Is that considered out of range?

Assuming that was measured with the wort down at room temperature, its a little high. A good range for room-temp mash pH is about 5.3 to 5.5 and its still OK to deviate about another tenth higher or lower than that range.
A little acid or acid malt looks to be in order.
