Maine?

My wife wants to move to Maine, and she has me half convinced. I am about ready for a change. Any maine-iacs out there that can tell me about Portland?

How is the employment situation; cost of living, Utilities, attitude of the population, and such things. We will definately take a trip before deciding, but any insight is welcome.

I'm originally from Northern Maine which is different than "Down East" where you're talking about. Real estate is pretty high, most everything is a little more expensive there especially compared to NC and bring your snow shovel!

I always love going home though and especially hanging out down on the coast. Just a cool atmosphere. Sea dog brewery is there and you'll never get a better lobsta roll.
