I started a yeast started and I'm going to brew a cream ale tonight. I'm using wlp080 and was wondering if I put the fermenting temperature around 45F-50F would hurt the beer.....

Probably. I don't have any experience with that yeast, but White Labs' website says the low end of fermentation temp is 65. With some strains you can ferment below the recommended ranges, but 45 is a big drop. It would probably stress the yeast and lead to underattention, off flavors, or both.

Ive used that yeast twice for my cream ales and i was really happy with the crispness of it around lower 60s.
And of course lagering it after helps too.
