Hey some friends and I were wondering if anyone has an updated water ion report for the Knoxville, TN area. I know I can get it tested but was hoping someone could just post it up.

Thanks,

West Knox (WKUD) from 1/8/14. Had to send sample to Ward Labs since WKUD has proved to be quite worthless answering customers.

pH = 8.0
Total Dissolved Solids(ppm) = 186
Electrical Conductivity = 0.31
Cations/Anions = 3.4/3.5

All values in ppm:

Sodium = 11
Potassium = 2
Calcium = 38
Magnesium = 11
Total Hardness (CaCO3) = 141
Nitrate = 0.3
Sulfate = 7
Chloride = 12
Carbonate = 6
Bicarbonate = 149
Total Alkalinity (CaCO3) = 133
Phosphorus = <0.01
Iron = <0.01

After using these numbers, I noticed a larger cation/anion ratio when inputting into my brun water spreadsheet than they reported... after a little research I found this.

From Ward Labs: "We report sulfate as “ppm sulfur”. Some laboratories report sulfate as “ppm sulfate”. The difference is the four oxygen. Sulfur has an atomic weight of 32.064 grams per mole and sulfate has an atomic weight of 96.06 grams per mole. To convert ppm SO4-S to SO4 divide by 0.333."

This would bring the sulfate to 21 ppm, which brings the cations/anions ratio much closer to what they reported.

Does anyone have the KUB report? I'm trying to enter it into BS. The annual report from 2012 only gives general hardness - does not specify Ca, Mg, or HCO3.

Ha! I've done that before. Kinda burns. But everything smells nice and hoppy afterwards.
