I could scrape it off and put some jb weld or jb water weld (drinking water safe) on it, if either of those is a safer option. Thoughts?

I'm normally willing to trust things that say they're safe for aquarium use, because many fish are pretty sensitive to toxins. So aquarium stuff has to not emit enough toxins to kill people's fish. I think usually with the aquarium sealant, the longer you can let it cure, the better. At least 24 hours. It smells like vinegar until then. Even a week or two after if you sniff it, esp if you used a thick layer, it will still smell a little. Now I can't say it won't offgas or let out nasties at boiling water temperatures, maybe it can tolerate that temp, but usually acquariums are just room temp or maybe 80-90F at the most.

I confirmed w/ the company that is 100% silicone when cured.
