Interchangeable lids?

For some foolish reason the last time I was at a brew shop bought two buckets and one lid, thinking I'd just keep one bucket for cleaning. A week later, I've got a second batch going in a Deer Park jug and I'm thinking about starting a third.

Swinging by a different brew shop this afternoon that only carries Brewers Best buckets and wondering if anyone has used a BB lid on a BSG bucket before?

Only asking because I ordered a lid off Amazon that ended up not fitting my BSG bucket OR Home Depot bucket, so I'm wondering if I got a poorly measured lid or if all the brands are slightly different sizes?

not sure what your issue is if it’s a 5 gallon style bucket any lid that style should fit, I’ve got different lids on different buckets now, some are harder to get on but they do fit.

Not all 5 gallon bucket lids fit other 5 gallon buckets. I have a few that are different. But in general, most do fit well enough.

Though if you are wanting to keep the discussion to only 5 gallon buckets sold for beer making, then I have no idea. I'd suspect there are exceptions other there somewhere.

You can find food-safe NSF certified 5 gallon buckets at Wal-Mart for around $3.00, and lids for around $2.00. Note- ONLY the white buckets are food safe. Look in the paint section.
I have also read on here you can get food safe 5 gallon at Lowe's.
Not sure about the lids, and i realize this does not answer your post, buy for less than $5 you can have a bucket & lid for grain, pbw, starsan, etc. storage. Keep your fancy fermeting bucket for fermenting.

Also- a lot of fermenting buckets at 6 gallon, not 5 gallon. Pethaps that is the lid issue you are having?

I've never seen 5 gal buckets at a LHBS, there either 6.5 or 7 gal and are larger in diameter ,or at least some are.
