Primary fermentation was completed in 72 hours with massive blowoff tube deployed. Dry hopped for another 2 days, kegged the beer and was drinking it 8 days after brewing. 1098 is such a beast. Ferments dry, ferments fast and drops out leaving virtually no yeast character behind...allowing the malt and hops to shine. Perfect for this style of beer. I feel that the large columbus charge of hops at 20 minutes is key to this beer. The finishing hops are all floral and citrus driven and the dank, catty columbus provides that classic IPA dank flavor in the background that anchors the beer.

I patterned this beer off of many of the much larger west coast reds (like from green flash) but I wanted it drier and less filling but still more complex from a malt perspective than an IPA. Mission Accomplished. You could mess with the hop varitals as you see fit as legacy and glacier arent common. Nice subs would be willamette, fuggles, liberty or even more cascade.
