My new 20 gal brew pot has a much higher sidewall than my old 7.5 gallon pot. As such my IC no longer sits flush on the bottom of my new pot when cooling wort. If I place the IC in the pot so it does sit flush to bottom my plastic tubing is draped over the lip of my screaming hot pot and I don't want the plastic to melt. I'm thinking of cutting the two vertical copper pieces of the IC (influent line and effluent line) and soldering on copper extensions. This would extend the IC connections above the lip of the pot and allow the IC to sit flush to the bottom of the pot. Anyone done this...had this problem...think this is a good idea? Thanks.
