How long for pectic enzyme to work?

I followed directions on the bottle by adding 1/2 teaspoon of powder per gallon to two five gallon batches of very cloudy cider - one after fermentation as I racked it into a secondary carboy and another five gallon batch that I was starting in primary.

How long do you think it will be until the cider is more or less clear?

I use it in the primary. After a week I transfer to secondary for 3 weeks or so, and it's clear.

If there is alcohol present you should double the amount.

Hello KGB, why is the dosage doubled in the presence of alcohol?

I know alcohol inhabits the pectic enzyme from doing its job. Not sure about the science behind it. There is a couple old posts on here somewhere about it.
