nice first post, I just printed it ;) As I have not yet started formulating my own recipes I really don't have much to add. I love a nice hoppy red like founders red rye pa. looks good to me.

that sure looks tasty. got an extract version?

I could whip one up when I get home tonight...though somebody might beat me too it before then. :)

I think that combo of caramel malts, honey, and Amarillo make it for me.

conor60, really more like a red/amber American IPA as it stands (with all the hops you're adding)... Far too many IBU's to be an amber/red ale. You're even pushing the American IPA style with the amount of hops... IF you want something with that many IBU's, then go for it.

Also, it's not a partial mash recipe... For one thing, you're not using any base malt with the specialty grains. That makes it an extract with steeping grains recipe.

As the recipe stands, you're looking at an OG of about 1.080... I do hop you're planning on making a starter for your yeast... FG estimate is 1.020 (doubt it will get below that since you're using all extract for the fermentables)... That puts it 8% ABV... If that's what you're looking for, then go for it. Otherwise, scale back the DME and hops (less DME, lower OG, higher IBU's from the current hop schedule).
