I brewed an IPA that came out a higher ABV then expected (8.5%) due to adding extra grains thinking my mash tun was not very efficient. The IBUs are around 60. Can I boil an ounce of high alpha acid hops for an hour with the priming solution made with DME? I want to increase the IBUs as much as possible or at least increase the perceived bitterness. How many cups DME do you use when making a priming solution for a 5 gallon batch? Also do I need to use DME if im boiling hops or can i use corn sugar? Will boiling hops in corn sugar and water impart bad flavors?
