Im looking at cost differences. My father can get me a 6x6 aluminum heating coil, that i could run water through, for free. Right now i do 1gal batches. Now i could also buy soft copper for $25 and make a copper IC. Would the aluminum heating coil be a bad idea being that its made of aluminum?

Aluminum should make a nice IC, very good heat transfer. Might be advisable to boil it before first use to oxidize it. Regards
