I'm doing my first lager, a dunkle. After I pitch, do I slowly take it down to 45 deg or just throw it in with the fridge already at 45?
 
give this a read. It has a section that explains how to best ferment your first lager. It then goes much deeper into lager fermentation.
 
Kaiser, thanks for the link. I'm also heading into Lagerland after my next ale gets into the bottle.
