I want to make a mid body, high gravity IPA with strawberries at about 60 IBU. Has anyone done any brew like this and how did it turn out? Does IPA and fruit mix well. Thanks for your help.

I think citrus would be the only fruit style I could add lightly to an IPA. But I would probably only do that with orange peel or cacades. No actual fruit.

+1 on the citrus fruits.

Brew up 5 gallons, split five ways and experiment - lemon, orange, grapefruit, etc

How about this

Fermentables

4 lbs Amber Malt Extract liquid
8 lbs Light Malt Extract liquid
0.5 lb 20L Crystal
0.5 lb 40L Crystal

Hops
4 oz orange peel
1 oz Simcoe 45 min
1 oz Chinook 20 min
1 oz Cascade 0 min
1 oz Cascade DH

Yeast WLP001 @ 60 degrees F (want it nice and clean)

Boil 4 gal
Batch 6 gal

Just ferment your IPA at a high temp around 74-75 and you will get a nice banana flavor without adding any fruit.

This happened to me a couple of times unintentionally when i first started brewing and it was summertime. My friends liked it so much i now brew a batch at high temps on purpose from time to time. I call it my BPA (banana pale ale).

Your recipe looks OK, although adding the peel at 15 minutes will preserve more of the orange oils.
