Was just switching from my blowoff tube to an airlock and I found this in my blowoff vessel. Looks like a good amount of yeast caked in there! Is there a good viable method of harvesting from blowoff? Just for future reference. Thanks y'all!

This was WLP001, fermenting an imperial stout.

My guess is that harvesting from an imperial stout, in any way (primary, secondary, blow-off), is probably not the greatest idea. Too high-gravity, too dark, and probably too much hop residue to make for a good bunch of yeast.

"Krausening" (sp?) is a traditional brewing techinque using the blow off foam. However, unless you sanitized your blow off gear you might get contamination.
