So I took intro to ceramics. I have 13 Pieces finished and a few cooling in the kiln. One waiting to go in.
Here they are I never said I was good but it was fun.

#2 is going to be fired again and the colors will get bright here soon. It is a dollhouse for my daughter it has 2 ceramic people and a goofy creature to go with it also, but they are in the kiln.

Last humanities class I took was a Intro to Drama class. I got a whole new appreciation for the theater from it.

Thanks it was fun to play with. Whatcom Community has 3 kilns 2 electric and one gas. The gas is probably 4x4x6 at the smallest. The gas is 24 inches deep and about 24 inches in diameter. The dollhouse fit with less than a half in to spare. It is not really a play with doll house but it will be cool in her room. she is getting a great big doll house to play with. been asking for one for 2 years.

I did some ceramics when I was a kid. Mostly painting pre-fired ceramic figurines, etc. It was through the 4H program. I'd like to get back into it, but I'd like to try my hand at throwing some clay instead this time. There is a class in the town next door. I should plurge and give it a shot. You gotta pay a few $$ to get started.

Look into your community college they may have a community outreach class and then you can go and use their stuff anytime there is an open lab. Well at least that is how my college is. For my class we just had to pay for the credit hours and then all the materials are provided.
Hopefully I will be able to get the pots I threw on Monday. Yesterday when i checked they were still about 1200 degrees.

It's a bit of a drive to get to a community college here. There is a local art chapter in town next door that offers classes, and once you have the basic instruction you can throw clay for pretty cheap (Buy your own clay, mostly). Not sure if there is a fee above that for the kiln.

There might be a place in Big Rapids that has this too. I'll have to check. Might make a nice thing to do with the oldest when she is home for holidays, if they offer this during that time.

Ceramic tap handles?

Is there some reason not to do this, I think they'd be super cool.

Nice stuff for a ceramics noobie.

a little more applicable than the elective i took in that category. i took civil engineering, and got to learn about sewers. talk about a bunch of sh^^ for a computer major... yes we did

Got my last 3 pieces in the kiln today. I took it upon myself to see if I could unload the finished works and then was able to load one of the kilns and start it. I have to say the electric ones are nice. I then loaded both. Lots of fun.

The doll house is done. The top got a little soft when it was fired but now with the mushroom I can say the dollhouse is from Alice in Wonderland. The little creature is the GooblyGook. The girl loves it. She will get a doll house she can play with Christmas day. Shh it is a secrete.
