I do not know the specific term for this, but when making my BIAB mash there is always left over grain pieces that work there way through the bag. I was wondering if this was normal and if I needed to do anything about them? My most recent batch still came out quite clear, but I was not sure if the pieces would negatively impact the beer in other ways.

Not really a problem. It happens. If it makes it beyond your boil kettle, then it'll just become trub on the bottom or something that floats on the top. It's only the clean stuff between the top and bottom of the FV that we are interested in.

Consider how much of the whole thing those pieces are. Probably not even a decent fraction of a percent.
