Just finished watching I Melt With You, definitely one of the darkest movies I've seen. Im a little shaken up from it, definitely worth a watch.

I'll check it out.

Anything with Rob Lowe and Jeremy Piven is worth taking the day off to watch.

PCU and Wayne's World for life ( No regrets on that tattoo).

god damn brother you are not whistling Dixie. this is "the hangover" if it were an actual serious movie with serious consequences.

That's a good analogy for it. I think they worked with a 700k budget, did a great job in my opinion. Awesome soundtrack too.

THE THING, I know I've mentioned it but just watched it again...good god! absolutely epic. nearly on par with aliens.

so effing freakish!!!

I think I have mentioned it before in this thread, too...it is one of my favorite horror films for sure. If you have HBO (which I know you don't, but just bear with me) the prequel, also called THE THING, is available for on demand and HBO GO this month. Also a pretty good flick, although I like the Kurt Russell one better.

Two good documentaries I watched recently were Jiro Dreams of Sushi and Indie Games. The sushi one was especially good. Definitely in my top 10.

My god, Jiro Dreams of Sushi was amazing. I don't even like sushi that much. The filming style, content, story were all so good. I need to watch that again soon.

Jiro Dreams of Sushi was an incredibly well done documentary.

Everything about it was captivating.

Anyone else into ww2 documentaries? Thought so!

The Goebbels Experiment is pretty great. Some real insight into the mind of the Nazi party officials.

I've seen this; it's pretty slow and if you don't know much about the Nazis it will be hard to folllow. It was pretty solid though.

I believe Goebbels is the one who let his wife crush cyonide capsules in their kids' mouth while they were sleeping. The doctor knocked them out first so they wouldn't wake up as she did it. The kids knew it was their time. Effed up ****. Oh, the next day Goebbels shot his wife in the head and then ended his own life. Yay National Socialists!

The soundtrack blew me away!

Superb acting.

And that ending????? Man oh man! didn't see that coming.

+1 great sound tract. Even Adam & The Ants, "Dog eat Dog" fit in.

Would never have found this one without this thread. Thanks!

:mug:

That was my whole thought here. With each of us individually using "hit and miss" to sift through the almost endless number of titles, you could miss a TON of good stuff. (and stomach a TON of crapola;))

With different tastes, there is still a margin of error, but we have a lot more eyes letting us know of potential diamonds in the rough.

I know it is hacky, but i am really enjoying 30 Rock starting with season 1. Its fun!

I am desperately awaiting the second season of Todd Margaret.

Also, i am watching the stupid vp debates and boy is my blood boiling. I need some netflx relief!

Didt read all threads. Anyone mention Beer Wars? If they did and you have not seen it. Watch it.

Just watched this the other day. I didn't find any other mention of it in the thread so it looksl ike you are the first!

+1 to Beer Wars.

Whenever I'm looking for something good on Netflix, I don't stray to far it's either Top Gear (with Jim, Dick, and Jezza) or doctor who. Both of which swmbo despises.

Tried to get into "Battlestar Galactica" and didn't like it, but I recently found "Freaks and Geeks" and it's pretty good.

Nothing is for everyone, but I have turned Girly girls, football jocks and elderly people onto Battlestar Galactica.

How many episodes did you watch?

The first episode is good, but much different from the meat of the show.

I am so tempted to watch the whole thing again.

I only saw the first two episodes. I probably should give it another shot, but part of what turned me off was that there are 75 episodes... that's a lot of hours to get through. Guess that's not a bad thing if the series is as good as people say it is.

Honestly, I wish there were more. THe ending is fantastic! Usually that is the only risk of a huge long investment of time.

If I could kill the creators of LOST, I might......so much time WASTED!!!!!!!

Just be glad the whole series of BSGis on there.Breaking Bad is fantastic, but prepare to wait years for new episodes.(good as it is, it is not as good as BSG)

Lost is a great example of the ride being more important than the destination.

I loved the series. The ending was unfortunate, but I don't begrudge it.

Here you and I differ.

I like to think that they were laboring towards something pointed.

When it all turned out to be random BS the whole thing became pointless.

Dogs Decoded Nova. It has an interesting experiment related to breeding foxes based on personality and the dramatic physical changes that resulted. I was thinking of it after reading the debate thread on evolution.

I guess I'm going to have to check out BSG. I feel like I'm forced to now.

That's life in a nutshell.

Watching BSG....just started the second season. It's OK, nothing in the class of Breaking Bad so far but I hear the ending is great.

THE GREY

1/3 in. Holy Hell. AWESOME.

Fantastic gritty movie making.

Liam Neeson is a badass again.

I love Liam, because he is a big gangly movie star amongst 5'8-5'10 pretty boys. And as a big gangly fella myself he's my hero. The world needs more of em
