I don't have the capability to brew traditional lagers but I was intrigued by some of the "xbeeriments" by the folks at Brülosophy on ferm temps and brewing traditional lager recipes using hybrid yeasts (Kölsch, cream ale). I finally worked up the courage to brew a Munich helles recipe with WLP029 and it made a terrific beer. I have no plans to subject it to any blind triangle testing, but if somebody had given me a bottle and told me it was a helles, there's no way I would have been able to tell them they were lying. Might try a märzen next.
