Seeking advice from the technically inclined.

I am building a decoction vessel and want an electric stirrer to prevent scorching.

What specs should I look for:

AC vs DC
RPM
Torque
Etc.

I will mount it in the lid and my goal is to find the cheapest option that will adequately keep grain and mash moving in the 10 gallon pot.

Thank you for any and all help.

fwiw, electric ice cream makers have a great gear motor and usually are easy enough to mount vertically on a lid or panel you can set atop a MLT. If you have any Goodwill or Salvation Army stores or consignment shops or the like up there, you might come across one for short money (like $5)...

Cheers!

Thank you for the advice. The ice cream makers are nice and cheap.

Processhead, which motor would work from that site? Thanks.

Actually, after closer review, none of the affordable ones are really well suited for the job.
They are all intermittent duty. You want one that is continuous duty rated.
