Duckstein Original. My little brother brought these back from Germany. The particular bottle read a "red blonde" (Rotblondes). Also, "auf buchenholz gereift" which I do not understand.

It was an absolutely wonderful beer.

What is it, and how do I brew it?

Duckstein?

Did you ever try to brew it? I've always liked this beer, and just got back from Luebeck a couple days ago so am kind of inspired to try it (as well as a Brauberger clone). I'm thinking maybe just an altbier aged on beech chips.

I have not. I'm transitioning to AG and right now I'm working out the kinks doing simple pales.

This caught my eye though: http://www.northernbrewer.com/brewi...r-altbier-extract-kit-w-specialty-grains.html

I'd love to start branching out my brewing styles beyond pales.
