Don't over think it. Just dump them in. As mentioned, they fall apart themselves really fast.

That seems to be what happens most in this hobby, we over think everything. Before you know it, your running a crazy 5 tier automated system that cost you 5 grand!

Just drop 'em in and enjoy the hoppy goodness!

Yes, they do blow up when they get wet

And a few hours later they form a nice thick layer of pellet mush on top of your beer. Give 'em a week or so to swim free, then a few days of crash cooling and they'll all end up on the bottom out of the way...
