Different brewing kits?

I picked up a kit with the liquid extract hops etc and my buddy wants to try and said they sold him what looks like a large can of mix...nothing else. What's the difference in the two

The can is probably pre-hopped. It should say on the container.

You could always tweak it and add more hops, but for someone who hasn't done their first brew i'd stick to the recipe first.

Oh like a coopers kit. Wonder why he went that route

You usually add some DME or brew enhancer to the cans. It'll raise the ABV a little,But give more flavor & mouthfeel to the finished beer.
