Hi All:

Fermcap is a anti-foaming agent that can be purchased from a variety of brew shops, but it contains silicone and I've heard you need to be careful using it.

Birko sells a product called "Patco 376" which is safer to use because its made of using vegetable oil, but I can't find a source for it that would sell in small quantities for home brew applications.

Anyone know a source for this product?

Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much about using fermcap. I've used it for years and I just now started to grow a third nipple.

Seriously though, with the amounts we use in our homebrew, it's probably not an issue.

silicone is also a food grade lubricant for machinary...we probably consume more from commercial foods than in our home brew.
