My keezer compressor died Saturday afternoon. She lived a good 3 years but leaving a temp probe outside the keezer a few days prior may have been the last straw. Now I have beers carbing at 65F in wait for a new home. On the bright side I always wanted to build a coffin keezer, just not in a crunched down time frame.

Sorry for your loss I also just lost one.

On a positive note Home Depot has GE 7.0 chest freezers on sale right now for $199 FREE Shipping. I picked one up and am liking it.

It must of been in pain. it was a kindness helping it die by leaving out the probe :)

My Fermentation chest freezer is from 1981. She gets rather warm on the outside when I crash cool. I don't think she has long left.

I believe my keezer was an early 80s model as well. Fifty dollars on craigslist so no regrets, except for me being a bone head.

One of my brewing buddies @mpcluever just had one die as well. Well, sort of die. It just hovers around 50F on its coldest setting. Oh the humanity!!!

I,too, have a 7 cu ft GE and love it, especially for the price (same). I've had mine a year now.

I can store two 6 gal buckets and use the baskets for opened grain bags, and the shelf over the compressor holds my whiskey and cigars.

My Avanti Minifridge kegerator/fermchamber can't hold sub 40*F for more than a few days. I have a 3 tap tower on there but I think its kegerator days are done.

We have a $170-200 Magic Chef 6.0 cu foot little chest freezer we use as a freezer. It does fine - I can't get another fridge or anything until we get our own place.
