I was wondering is anyone could give me advice on using this Candle Stick DE Filter. I purchased this and have never filtered beer before, I've always just cooled and gravity filtered.
I am having issues with the DE and actually getting the powder caught in the candlestick filters, I run the water in at 80 Degrees Centigrade with the mixed in DE powder for about 30 min but it seems to just pass straight through, not getting caught and not creating a filter barrier.
Does anyone know of any in-depth tutorials/videos on how to use these filtration systems? (photos atached)
Specifically:
The temperature of water to mix DE powder
Type of DE powder (as I have organic food-grade powder at the moment)
Tips on purging correctly
How to prevent any infection between coating the filters with DE powder and running the beer through it
Basically, just the general operation from start to finish would be ideal.
